Capsular Contracture 

Implant rupture and capsular contracture are two key reasons why breast implant removal cosmetic surgery may become a medical necessity. Steps involved in breast revision surgery will not be very different from the original augmentation mammaplasty. Anesthesia

The surgeon may perform breast revision using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. This will be determined prior to the procedure. Once the patient is brought into the surgery room, she will be placed under anesthesia before the procedure is initiated.

General anesthesia will be performed by an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist. They will mostly remain present in the surgery room through the procedure to monitor the patient’s response to anesthesia. The patient will be unconscious, will feel no pain, and have no recollection of the procedure when she wakes up from anesthesia.

 

Incision Placement

The surgeon will discuss the patient’s incision preferences during the customized surgery planning. Implant Insertion

Through the incisions, the surgeon will insert the new implants into the breast pockets. This step is easier in case of saline implants, which can be inserted in a deflated shape, and filling can be done after that. The implants will be adjusted into their desired position above or below the pectoral muscle as per the pre-determined surgery plan.

 

Incision Closure

Variations in Recovery

Recovery process in case of breast revision can vary depending on whether a breast implant replacement or breast implant removal surgery has been performed. Breast implant replacement will usually be a simpler surgery as the same incision lines can be used to remove the existing implants and replace them with new implants.

However, if replacement implants are of a larger or smaller size, modifications to the breast pocket will have to be made to accommodate the new implants. Immediate Phase after Surgery
