Training and Experience

Dr. McLain is a renowned double board certified cosmetic and oral & maxillofacial surgeon in Huntsville, Alabama. He completed his dental education from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and medical education from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. He went ahead to complete his internship in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.

Dr. McLain followed this with a residence in oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis on facial trauma, reconstruction and orthognathic surgery, as well as facial cosmetic surgery. He served as the Chief Resident of the oral and maxillofacial department from 2007-2008. Following the residency, Dr. McLain was chosen for an AACS accredited fellowship program in cosmetic surgery.

During his fellowship training, Dr. McLain performed about 1,400 major surgical procedures focusing entirely on aesthetic enhancement and rejuvenation of the face, breast and body. Longevity with HA Cross Linking

The main ingredient in Juvederm gel is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a biological compound found naturally in the body. It performs the function of holding the skin tightly together. With aging, hyaluronic acid content gets depleted in the body, leading to skin laxity. In such cases, the cosmetic surgeon may recommend Juvederm dermal filler to replenish the loss of hyaluronic acid.

As a hyaluronic acid based filler, Juvederm’s longevity of results is determined by the degree of cross linking of the gel molecules. While the human body will tend to quickly reject unnatural substances, the benefit with Juvederm is that the body does not receive it as a completely alien object because of the presence of hyaluronic acid.

This allows for the gel to remain in its place for a longer time, and produce more sustainable anti-aging results.
